Due Date Calculator
How Due Dates Are Calculated
A typical pregnancy lasts approximately 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) or 266 days (38 weeks) from conception.
Our calculator supports two popular, medically recognized methods:
Last Menstrual Period (LMP)
Uses Naegele's Rule. The calculator adds 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last period. This assumes a standard 28-day menstrual cycle.
Conception Date
If you tracked ovulation or underwent IVF, your due date is calculated by adding 266 days (38 weeks) to the estimated conception date.
Understanding Gestational Milestones
- First Trimester: Weeks 1 to 13. High cell replication and basic organ systems creation.
- Second Trimester: Weeks 14 to 27. Rapid physical elongation, bones ossification, and quickening movements.
- Third Trimester: Weeks 28 to 40. Lung maturation, peak antibody accumulation, and labor preparation.
Important Note: Only about 4% to 5% of babies are born exactly on their estimated due date. Most deliveries occur within a window spanning two weeks before and two weeks after the calculated EDD. This calculator serves as an educational tool; always consult your obstetrician for clinical tracking.
